What is Dynaweed?
You can think of Dynaweed as a natural “weed and feed” treatment for your lawn and garden. Dynaweed uses the power of corn gluten to give you both these benefits in one easy to use, minimum risk package. Dynaweed is the safe and effective way to kill weeds before they start and give a nitrogen boost to your lawn and garden at the same time.
Dynaweed is a Natural Herbicide
As a chemical-free alternative to other herbicides, Dynaweed is a safer and highly effective product for any landscape. It is non-phototoxic, so it can be used on sensitive lawns and ornamentals while still preventing the growth of persistent weeds. Remarkably, Dynaweed is so gentle on the environment that it is also exempt from residue tolerance requirements.
Researchers at Iowa State University discovered the natural herbicidal properties of corn gluten in the 1980s. A non-toxic byproduct of producing corn starch or corn syrup, corn gluten is a common ingredient in pet food for its high protein. Used as a pre-emergent weed killer, corn gluten works to dehydrate weed seeds and prevent them from developing roots. No roots means no growth. With Dynaweed, weeds are stopped before they can ever emerge from the soil. No disrupting or spraying your land later!
Dynaweed is a Non-Chemical Fertilizer
The fertilizing ability of Dynaweed is due to the high protein content in the granules. Once applied, the granules decompose, leaving your crops with a higher quantity of nitrogen. This reduces or eliminates the need for other nitrogen fertilizers, saving you time and money.
Dynaweed’s unique ability to both “weed and feed” makes it one of the most remarkable advancements in modern agronomic history. University research conducted on landscapes treated with Dynaweed have shown its ability to reduce weed emergence as well as provide superior plant quality and color on existing crops.
Dynaweed is Easy to Use
Dynaweed is easy to use because it doesn’t require any special handling, application, or protective clothing. Because it works on weeds before they sprout, Dynaweed must be applied in early spring or fall. For spring application, use Dynaweed when forsythia (pictured above), daffodils, or jonquil begin to bloom in your area. For fall application, the ideal time is between August 15 and September 20 in most regions of the United States.
After applying Dynaweed, humans and animals can use the landscape immediately. Because Dynaweed is 60% protein, we recommend reducing or eliminating other fertilizers, especially those high in nitrogen, for six to eight weeks.
If you water your crop after application, allow the soil surface to dry completely between watering. Dynaweed requires this drying period for best results. You will find the benefits of Dynaweed are cumulative over the years. Each year you will have fewer unwanted weeds and even stronger plants and grass!
Where Can I Use Dynaweed?
Use Dynaweed on perennial crops such as turfgrass, herbs, ornamentals, or berries. Apply with a standard fertilizer spreader. For a spring or fall application of Dynaweed, use 15-20 pounds per 1000 square feet. If you are only applying once a year, use the higher rate of application.
